The figures represent the increases required in gross earnings with 1976–77 tax rates and allowances to give the same increase in income after tax and national insurance contributions as the full Budget proposals. Account has been taken of the changes in child tax allowances due to the introduction of child benefits, and child benefits and family allowances have been included in net income where appropriate.
