asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will raise in the Council of Ministers (Agriculture) the need to establish a medium-term production programme for Community farmers to the benefit of the food producer and consumer.

My aim is to restrain the real level of common prices so as to bring about a better balance of supply and demand, to eliminate structural surpluses and benefit consumers. Attempting to define a medium-term production plan is not necessarily the best way to achieve this objective.
