asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what measures have been taken to deal with Plum Pox (Sharka Disease); and if he is satisfied with the way his Department has acted in this connection.

For the past two seasons we have been operating the control measures described in the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Kingston upon Hull, West (Mr. Johnson) on 18th December 1975.—[Vol. 902, c. 721–3.] The National Farmers' Union has recently made representations to my right hon. Friend about the scope of the associated arrangements for compensation, and these are under consideration.
