asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is able to estimate the number of people employed at the peak of activity in the construction of the North Ayrshire District General Hospital.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he can give an estimate of the quantity of major materials used in the construction of the North Ayrshire District General Hospital.

The estimates are as follows:

  • Cladding, 7,324 sq metres
  • Blockwork, 20,700 sq metres
  • Plaster work, 33,500 sq metres
  • Steel, 850 metric tones
  • Floors and slabs, 26,300 sq metres
  • Glass, 3,000 sq metres
  • Electrical wiring, 11 miles
  • Asphalt, 25,000 sq metres
  • Gravel and paving, 9,300 sq metres
  • Concrete (including structural concrete), 2,800 cubic metres
