asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list for each year since 1970 the percentage increase or decrease in real take-home pay of the average industrial worker in each member country of the EEC, the United States, Canada and Japan.

I regret that this information cannot be provided without a disproportionate expenditure of time and resources.

Member for Blaby, Official Report, 30th November, columns 259–60, what is the explanation of the apparent 11¼ per cent. increase on the real weekly take-home pay of the average married man between March and June of 1970.
