asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will publish the full infrastructure costs of British Railways in 1976 with a view to Government taking responsibility for such costs both for 1976 and future years.

The rail infrastructure costs, as published in the Board's Annual Report and Account for 1976, were about £329 million. This was exceeded by Government support payments.
