asked the Secretary of State for Wales to what extent his Department makes use of Giro facilities; what is the estimated annual value of such Giro transactions; and what regular consideration is given to extending the use of Giro.

A small number of payments are made through Giro. The estimated value of such transactions currently amounts to £45,000 a year. The possibility of extending the use of Giro is kept under constant review.
