asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the delay in making payments under the insolvency sections of the Employment Protection Act to former employees of Sleeman Smith Ltd., Birmingham, whose employment ceased in November 1976.

A statement of the amount of the employees' debts, as required by Section 64(10) of the Employment Protection Act and on receipt of which payment can be made by my Department, has not yet been received from the liquidator. It is hoped to receive such a statement shortly, and payment will be made as soon as possible thereafter. I shall then write to my hon. Friend about this case.
