asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether the Government's review of competition policy has been completed; and when he will produce the discussion paper for the National Economic Development Council on the subject.

The Government will shortly be publishing material prepared by the interdepartmental group as a basis for discussion. I expect to discuss this subject with the NEDC in the near future.
