asked the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects to be able to appoint a new director of information for his Department.

A notice inviting senior members of the information officer group to apply for the post of chief of public relations in my Department has been issued and applications are due by 18th May. If a suitable candidate is forthcoming, I would hope to make an appointment shortly thereafter.
