asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will ask the Northern Ireland Commission on Human Rights to examine the effectiveness of the anti-discrimination provisions of the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973, in the light of the inability of the Department of Education to withhold grants to the Gaelic Athletic Association whose rules are said to be discriminatory against members of the Armed Forces and the police service.

The commission already has a statutory duty to advise me on the adequacy and effectiveness of the law for the time being in force in preventing discrimination on the ground of religious belief or political opinion.
