asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is his latest estimate of the number of jobs saved in Wales through Government action.

Up to mid-April 1978, the Government's measures have benefited about 60,000 people in Wales. This includes temporary employment subsidy paid in respect of some 29,000 jobs. In addition, substantial numbers of jobs have been safeguarded or maintained in Wales by support provided under Section 7 of the Industry Act 1972.
