asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement on present United Kingdom oil refining capacity.

The total capacity of refineries in the United Kingdom is currently 142 million tonnes. In 1977 only 92 million tonnes of crude oil was refined in the United Kingdom, that is, about 65 per cent. of gross capacity.
