asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what study he has made of recommendations of the Food Standards Committee report on beer that there should be permitted descriptions of beers related to the original gravity; and what plans he has for implementing these recommendations.

Officials of my Department have been holding informal discussions with interested parties to establish the extent of agreement on this and other recommendations in the Food Standards Committee's report. In the light of these discussions, consideration will be given to whether regulations should be made under the Food and Drugs Act 1955.
