asked the Secretary of State for Defence, in the light of the Written Answer given by the Minister of State for the Civil Service, Official Report, 25th April, column 522–3, when he expects a final decision to be taken on the dispersal of Ministry of Defence jobs from Cheadle Hulme to Glasgow; how many of these will involve the transfer of staff at each appropriate grade; what is the envisaged cost of such a programme; and how many staff are expected to be recruited in the local community.

It is hoped to make a decision by early autumn as to which blocks of work are to be dispersed to Glasgow. Until that decision is taken and more detailed planning has been completed it would be premature to attempt to answer the other Questions asked by the hon. Member.
