asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the cause of the delay in hearing the planning appeal concerning a site used by gipsies at Main Street, Tweedmouth, Northumberland; and when he expects the appeal to be heard.

This appeal has been held in abeyance at the appellant's request but the Berwick upon Tweed Borough Council have now asked that a local inquiry be held. I will write to the hon. Member when the arrangements have been made.
