asked the Secretary of State for Transport why the vegetation in the central reservation of the M4 is being ploughed up and replaced with tarmac; and at what cost.

drainage. The tarmac will prevent rainwater soaking into the central reservation and sometimes causing flooding in the fast lanes. The average cost of the work is £23 per metre.
