asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what are the average number of cases per bed treated in the Cleveland area health authority, the northern region and nationally;(2) what is the average number of unused beds in North Tees general hospital;

(3) when he expects common waiting lists for private and National Health Service patients based on date of referral by general practitioners to be introduced in the Cleveland area health authority;

(4) how many people are at present on in-patient and out-patient waiting lists for treatment in Cleveland area health authority; and how long they have been on those lists;

(5) how many consultants, junior hospital doctors and nursing staff have been employed in the Cleveland area health authority and South Tees health district in each of the last four years;

(6) how many operating sessions in each medical and surgical category have been cancelled in the South Tees Health District over the last four years; and for what reason;

(7) what proportion of patients receiving clinical priority over the last four years in the Cleveland area health authority were private patients; and in what medical and surgical categories this applied;

(8) what is the number of patients operated on in the Cleveland area health authority in each medical and surgical category over the last four years;

(9) what are the average number of beds per 1,000 population in the Cleveland area health authority, the northern region and nationally.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many beds in each of the area health authority regions are available to (a) patients receiving active treatment, aged 65 years or over and (d) long-stay patients aged 65 years or over.
