Mr. Forman
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will tabulate, at current and constant (1977) prices, what the outturn on both the current and capital accounts of the balance of pay- ments would have been for the years 1972 to 1977 and for the first half of 1978, on the assumption that there had been (a) no benefit from North Sea oil, (b) no benefit from United Kingdom natural gas, and (c) no benefit from either.
Mr. Robert Sheldon
I regret that in the time available it has not been possible to provide the information requested. I shall write to the hon. Member.
