asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, further to his reply to the hon. Member for Chislehurst of 17th July 1978—[Vol. 954, cc. 101–21]—he will indicate how many of the secure places listed are available for remand, as distinct from long-stay purposes, including separate figures in respect of boys and girls.

The number of secure places at 1st July 1978 in observation and assessment centres approved by the Secretary of State for each children's RPC area in England in which young people on remand are accommodated are listed below:
