asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how the mortality rate of babies in social class 1 compares with that in other social classes.

The mortality rates for the years 1970 to 1972 combined were as follows:his Department under his voluntary price regulation scheme.

Expenditure on sales promotion by companies which submit annual financial returns under the pharmaceutical price regulation scheme, in 1976, the latest year for which complete information is available, is analysed below. As my right hon. Friend announced to the press in July 1976, the amount of sales promotion accepted as a cost under the scheme is being reduced to 10 per cent. of the value of the industry's sales by 1979. In addition, the cost of certain items, of which samples, other than samples for identification purposes, is one, are no longer accepted as a cost under the scheme.
