The current review of the supplementary benefit scheme initiated by my right. hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services does not include the operation of the scheme in Northern Ireland. However, the Northern Ireland scheme is essentially the same as that in Great Britain and any changes arising from the review will obviously have implications for Northern Ireland.
