asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if the Hong Kong Government have requested any assistance from the British medical profession and the Medical Research Council in the work of the Hong Kong action committee against narcotics.

No specific request for help has been made either to the Medical Research Council or to the British medical profession generally. The Government fully support the efforts being made in Hong Kong to combat drug abuse and to treat and rehabilitate addicts. These efforts arc producing encouraging results.
