asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will issue guidance to local authorities and other interested bodies on the need to build houses with chimneys and to introduce schemes to convert chimneyless houses so that they will be able to use solid fuel.

It is a matter for local authorities to decide whether they wish to include chimneys in new houses or convert existing properties. In the case of the private sector, it is for builders and houseowners to determine whether they wish to do so.
