asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, further to the reply to the hon. Member for Warley, East, Official Report, 11th December, column 86, what steps he has taken to raise in the United Nations the proposed further settlement of 27,000 Israeli families in the occupied territories of the West Bank and Gaza.

Such steps have not been considered appropriate as the report in question has not been confirmed. However, the Government's views on Israeli settlements in the occupied territories are well known: we deplore their establishment.
