asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will reconsider the criteria which his Department adopts for the provision of pedestrian safety barriers, with a view to including some on certain parts of the proposed A12 Colchester Road widening scheme towards Gallows Corner, as this straight stretch on the route of commuters out of London when they may be tired is likely to prove especially dangerous for pedestrians.
