The chairman receives a fee of £30 per meeting, and all members of the committee receive travelling expenses. In 1977, fees and expenses paid amounted to £575·99. Claims paid for 1978 total £670·58. An official of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office acts as secretary to the committee during meetings.
