Motion made, and Question proposed,

That no Motion shall be made for the nomination of Members to serve on a select committee designated in paragraph (2) of Standing Order (Select Committees related to Government Departments), or for their discharge, unless:
  • (a) notice of the Motion has been given at least two sitting days previously, and
  • (b) the Motion is made on behalf of the Committee of Selection by the Chairman or by another member of that Committee.—[Mr. St. John-Stevas.]
  • Mr. DEPUTY SPEAKER proceeded, pursuant to Order this day to put forthwith the Questions necessary to dispose of proceedings on the Motion.

    Amendment proposed: No. 1, leave out
