asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will examine the recent absorption of other companies by the English National Opera Company, with a view to a submission to the Monopolies Commission.

The Director General of Fair Trading, who has a duty under the Fair Trading Act to keep himself informed about merger activities, is not aware of any acquisitions by the English National Opera Company. However, if the hon. Member has a particular case in mind perhaps he would write to the Director General, who is willing to look into the matter.
