asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what account he took of the needs of the chronically sick and disabled in formulating his electricity discount scheme.

Chronically sick and disabled people who have extra heating needs can qualify on the existing criteria for the inclusion of heating additions in the assessment of their requirements for supplementary benefit purposes.No special provision for these groups was made in the previous Government's electricity discount scheme.
