asked the Lord Privy Seal how much of the previously planned spending in support of population activities has been cancelled or postponed as a result of the £50 million cut in development aid expenditure.

Seven proposed population projects have been abandoned. Their cost to the aid programme would have totalled about £3·4 million over a five-year period. No aid funds had been firmly committed for any of these projects at the time of their abandonment.
