asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer at what date, given the continuation of present trends and projecting the same relative gross national product per head of population between developed and developing countries, as defined by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, he expects the United Kingdom to fall from the first to the second category.

Neither the definition of a developing country nor the extrapolation of past trends provides a sufficiently sound basis for calculations of this kind.
