asked the Lord Privy Seal to what extent the publication "New Internationist" is financed by his Department; and if he is satisfied that the theme and contents of this magazine are appropriate to qualify for Government aid.

The only financial assistance from public funds was a contribution to the extra cost of a special edition in October 1978. This was designed to inform trade unions of the economic and social problems facing Third world countries. We have no plans to provide further finance.
