asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether, in view of the reorganisation to be carried out by the Metal Box Company at its Neath factory, which will reduce the number of jobs available in the area by at least 500, he will now withdraw his decision to downgrade the status of Neath from that of a special development area to that of an assisted area.

While we are always prepared to consider solid evidence of significant relative changes in the economic prospects of individual travel-to-work areas, it is premature to draw conclusions about the longer-term impact of this reorganisation.
