asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much is still held in post-war credits awaiting claimants.

It is estimated that about 94 per cent. of the original £765 million of income tax post-war credits for the years 1941–42 to 1945–46, has now been repaid; it is likely that a substantial part of the balance outstanding will, for a variety of reasons, never be claimed.
