asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is satisfied that the United Kingdom's North Sea oil installations can be defended in the event of the outbreak of hostilities; and if he will make a statement.

Yes. In the event of the outbreak of hostilities, protection of our North Sea gas and oil installations would be covered by war plans for the defence of the area. It is not the practice to discuss details of these plans.
