asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prisoners were in Cookham Wood prison on 18 June; and why many of them were on night sedatives.

On 18 June, 54 prisoners were in Cookham Wood prison. Night sedatives were prescribed to those prisoners, who, in the judgment of the doctor responsible for their care, needed them.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many women at Cookham Wood prison were on night sedatives at the latest available date; and if he will make a statement.

A total of 55 prisoners were at Cookham Wood prison on 22 November of whom 33 were receiving night sedatives.
