Mr. Arthur Lewis
asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether, in view of the need for improving Great Britain's security and the honesty of its service, he will introduce a British freedom of information Bill.
Mr. Channon
No. As I told the hon. Member for Lewisham, West (Mr. Price) on 20 June [Vol. 968, c. 1315], the Government share the view of their predecessors that legislation to provide a public right of access would not be appropriate.
