asked the Lord Privy Seal if he will publish a table showing all moneys expended by his Department in each year since 1974 on research, showing in each year the organisations to which funding was made available and the titles of the projects funded.

Since 1974 the Overseas Development Administration has published annually a report detailing its expenditure on research and development. Copies are available in the Library of the House.No research projects were commissioned by the FCO from other organisations between 1974 and 1977. From 1978 to date £11,357 has been provided to the policy studies unit of the Royal Institute of International Affairs for the support of three projects entitled "Britain, the West and the Modernisation of China"; "Financing Third World Debt" and "The Gulf in the Eighties". A study of fisheries opportunities in the South-West Atlantic was commissioned from the White Fish Authority in 1979 at a cost of £5,300.
