asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many of his officials were sent to Brussels in 1978 to discuss EEC matters; what was the total man-days involved; and what was the cost to public funds of travel and subsistence, including sums reimbursed by the Commission.

The information asked for relates to the period of office of the previous Administration. I am informed that the relevant figures for my Department are: 57; 140; £6,795—of which £3,833 was reimbursed by the EEC.
