asked the Attorney-General how many of his noble Friend's officials were sent to Brussels in 1978 to discuss EEC matters; what was the total man-days involved; and what was the cost to public funds of travel and subsistence, including sums reimbursed by the Commission.

Five officials were sent to Brussels from the Lord Chancellor's Department in the financial year 1978–79 to discuss EEC business; the total number of man-days was 85 and the cost to public funds £4,610·86, of which £2,017·48 has been repaid by the Commission.
