asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what proportion of children was in receipt of nursery schooling in the Wolverhampton area for each of the years 1974 to 1979; and how these figures compare with the rest of England over the same period.

The numbers of full-time and part-time pupils under 5 years of age in maintained nursery schools and nursery classes in maintained primary schools in January of each year since 1974 expressed as percentages of the estimated populations aged 3 and 4 years are as follows:teachers is not caused by an intention to discriminate against them in considering the claims.

Yes. The cause of the delay was that the claim had to be considered in relation to the Government's plans for public expenditure and the universities' cash limits. Negotiations are to be resumed on 3 December.
