asked the Minister of Transport if his Department has approved the Merseyside county council's application for loan sanction on the construction of the Liverpool inner ring road; if not, when it is likely to do so; and how much the total construction cost and the accumulated interest charge repayments will total.

The Department does not issue loan sanction for individual schemes. Merseyside county council's estimates put the total cost of the inner ring road at about £40 million. Interest charges depend on the proportion of the cost the council chooses to finance by borrowing and the terms of the loan.
