asked the Secretary of State for Social Services why he has not replied to letters from the hon. Member for Swindon dated 3 September and 25 September concerning the problems of his constituent Mrs. K. Pickstock over child benefit allowance; and when he expects to do so.

A reply has now been sent. My right hon. Friend and I regret that, because of the volume of correspondence during the summer, and the complexity of this particular case, it was not possible to reply earlier.
