asked the Secretary of State for Energy why the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority is spending £300,000 more on public relations during 1980–81 above the 1979–80 figure; and if he will explain what the money is spent on.

I am advised by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority that the increased expenditure will be largely devoted to the production or distribution of information material to give the facts about nuclear power to the public, such as films, publications and exhibitions. In particular, there are plans to improve the exhibition on atomic energy at the Kensington science museum.
