asked the Secretary of State for Employment what are the current rates of unemployment for young people of ethnic minority origin in employment office areas in Lambeth, Lewisham and Liverpool; and what proportion in each case this group is of the total number of unemployed young people.

Unemployment rates for young ethnic minority group workers are not available. An age analysis for unemployed minority group workers is undertaken annually and the latest is for February 1979. A comparison of this can be made with the January 1979 age analysis for all unemployed people. The following table gives the proportions of unemployed minority group workers included in the under 25 age range at the beginning of 1979 for the Lewisham employment office area and for the employment office areas most closely associated with Lambeth. Corresponding information for Liverpool is not available.
