asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, in view of public concern at conflicting reports as to its future, he will arrange for a public statement to be made regarding the future of the Royal Manchester children's hospital at Pendlebury.

Neither the North-Western regional health authority nor the Salford area health authority (teaching) has any plans at present to change the role of the Royal Manchester children's hospital.
