asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is satisfied with the number and quality of anti-tank weapons available to the British Army of the Rhine.

The entry into service and progressive deployment of the helicopter-borne TOW missile, the medium-range MILAN missile and the short-range light anti-armour weapon LAW over the next few years will provide a major enhancement of BAOR's antiarmour capability. In addition, the effectiveness of the Chieftain tank continues to be improved and other elements of BAOR—for example, artillery and mines—contribute to our capability against armoured attack.

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is satisfied with the type, number and quality of mines, both anti-tank and personnel, that are positioned or available for use by the British Army of the Rhine.

The improved mines now coming into service and the development of new fuses will ensure that BAOR continues to have a most effective capability in this field.
