asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the current level of unemployment in south-east Northumberland.
Mr. Jim Lester
On 10 January 1980 there were 5,431 persons registered as unemployed in the Morpeth travel-to-work area. The unemployment rate was 8ยท9 per cent., which was slightly lower than the rate for the Northern region as a whole.
