Miss Joan Lestor
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimate he has made of the effect that the building of the fourth terminal at Heathrow airport will have on the need for housing provision by local authorities in the vicinity.
Mr. Fox
The housing implications of the fourth terminal were considered by the inspector who held the public inquiry into the British Airports Authority's application for planning permission, and were reported upon in chapter 7 of his report. He concluded that the local planning authorities could most probably meet the additional demand for the release of land. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trade and I saw no reason to disagree with the inspector's assessment and conclusions.
